Allision Incident Involving MV Anassa and MV Zahab Jahan at Chittagong Anchorage
On August 16, 2026, at precisely 12:35 a.m., the cargo vessel 'Anassa', which was transporting approximately 35,350 tonnes of slag and carrying a crew of 21, experienced an allision while maneuvering into Chittagong's outer anchorage. The ship collided with the anchored Bangladeshi vessel, 'Zahab Jahan' (IMO: 9217682), located at Alpha Anchorage. Thankfully, the incident resulted in no injuries to the crew or significant damage to either ship, and there were no reports of environmental pollution. Following the allision, both vessels were successfully separated and re-anchored. By August 17, the 'Anassa' was securely moored at position 22° 18' N 091° 43' E, while the 'Zahab Jahan' was at 22° 13' N 091° 46' E.
