Reviews & Ratings for the Bakan

On September 16, 2026, the vessel 'Bakan' was detained at the port of Constanta due to the identification of four significant deficiencies that warranted immediate attention. The issues noted included: 1. Certificate and Documentation - The crew's certificates did not meet the minimum safe manning requirements as specified in the documentation. 2. Documentation - There were discrepancies related to the schedules for watchkeeping personnel. 3. Structural Conditions - The stability, strength, and loading information, including the necessary instruments, were found lacking. 4. Emergency Systems - There was a failure to conduct required fire drills satisfactorily. Importantly, these deficiencies were not attributed to the responsibility of the Recognized Organization (RO). After necessary measures were taken, the 'Bakan' was released on September 19 and subsequently set sail for Gießen. The ship reached its destination, mooring at position 40° 55' N, 038° E on September 22.

On December 10, 2024, the vessel 'Bakan', traveling from Istanbul to Aviles, encountered a medical emergency that necessitated the evacuation of an Indian crew member. In response, the Gijón Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (CCS Gijón) promptly dispatched the SAR helicopter Helimer 211. The helicopter successfully airlifted the patient from the 'Bakan' and transported him to El Musel, where an ambulance was ready and waiting to convey him to Jove Hospital for essential medical treatment.
