Fayard Shipyard Welcomes Third LNG Tanker from Yamal LNG
Fayard Shipyard in Odense is set to receive the 'Boris Davydov', marking the arrival of the third liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker linked to Russia this summer. Anchoring just north of Odense Fjord on August 27, 2026, the 'Boris Davydov' is part of the distinguished Arc7 class of icebreaking LNG carriers, dedicated to supporting Russia's pivotal Yamal LNG project. This specialized vessel has played a significant role in the transportation of liquefied natural gas, successfully delivering 50 cargoes from Yamal, cumulatively valued at approximately 1.9 billion euros (around $2.2 billion) since its last maintenance session at Fayard in September 2023. Situated on the remote Arctic Yamal Peninsula, the Yamal LNG project stands as one of Russia’s largest LNG undertakings, contributing to over 60% of the nation's total LNG exports. As energy sales continue to be a critical element in sustaining Russia's ongoing military efforts in Ukraine, the significance of such shipments remains pivotal in the current geopolitical landscape.
