Discover the Carinalexander: Ratings & Maritime News

In the late hours of August 25, 2026, at approximately 10:15 PM, a potential fire incident aboard the vessel 'Carinalexander' prompted an extensive response from the fire department in the Botlek area of Rotterdam. The ship, which had just arrived at Geulhaven from Amsterdam, was seen emitting white smoke from its funnel for a prolonged duration, raising concerns of a possible engine room fire. Given the challenging access for emergency responders from the quay, personnel from the Port Authority swiftly approached the vessel using an RPA patrol boat for a preliminary assessment. Fortunately, they discovered that no actual fire was present. It was identified that the smoke was a result of a system malfunction during the engine's start-up phase. As a precautionary measure, the Oude Maas Way was temporarily shut down to ensure safety during the emergency operations.
