On September 21, 2026, the vessel 'Orion' faced detention in the port of Weihai due to eight significant deficiencies that raised serious safety concerns. The issues identified include problems with propulsion and auxiliary machinery, particularly the auxiliary engine, as well as alarms for the boiler and steering gear, none of which fell under the responsibility of the Recognized Organization (RO). Additionally, there were critical fire safety deficiencies concerning the fixed fire extinguishing installations, fire pumps, and their connected pipes. The ship also suffered from inadequacies related to life-saving appliances, specifically the lifeboats and the launching arrangements for rescue boats, all exempting the RO from liability. The detention underscores the importance of adhering to maritime safety standards to ensure the well-being of crew and vessel.
