Notably, one of their vessels, the 'Eventin', was seized off the coast of Germany and is currently facing sanctions from multiple countries, including the European Union, Switzerland, the United States, and Canada. Another vessel, originally known as the 'Cordelia Moon' and now rebranded as 'Walrzs', is also under extensive sanction lists. Both vessels have a history of involvement in incidents detrimental to environmental safety. Furthermore, Altoprae Marine is tied to Rosewood Shipping, which has connections to Oksana Marchenko, the spouse of Viktor Medvedchuk. The 'Hanuman' has been implicated in transporting either Russian crude or pilfered Ukrainian grain, calling at Albanian ports since the onset of Russia's extensive military aggression against Ukraine. As a member of NATO and an EU candidate nation, Albania has aligned itself with EU sanctions against Russia since February 2022.
