Complete Maritime Profile & Reviews of Tarif

On the evening of August 13, 2026, the maritime security situation in the Strait of Hormuz escalated as two tankers, 'Navig8 Messi' (IMO: 9482859) and 'Tarif', came under fire in the latest incident linked to Iranian hostilities aimed at asserting control over this vital shipping lane. During their outbound passage, one of the vessels sustained minor damage; however, thankfully, all crew members emerged unharmed. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE strongly condemned these attacks, labeling them a 'flagrant violation' of a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution that upholds freedom of navigation. The ministry characterized Iran's ongoing aggression against maritime vessels as an 'act of piracy' and a 'tool of economic coercion.' It further emphasized the need for the Strait of Hormuz to be fully and unconditionally reopened for all maritime operations. Despite the aggressive actions, both tankers managed to continue their voyages independently, marking yet another chapter in the ongoing saga of maritime confrontations. This incident represents the 17th and 18th attacks on Adnoc's tankers in a troubling trend of increasing violence and attempts to disrupt their shipping activities.
