Zim-Pacific Vessel Reviews and Specifications

On August 9, 2026, the Greek Coast Guard's Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) notified the Port Authority of Paleochora about a remarkable rescue operation involving the container vessel 'ZIM Pacific.' Located approximately 36 nautical miles south of Gavdos, the ship had diverted from its regular route from Ashdod to Barcelona to assist a boat in distress carrying 26 migrants. After successfully picking up the individuals, the 'ZIM Pacific' navigated toward the port of Paleochora, ensuring the migrants' safe transport. Upon arrival, the rescued individuals were handed over to a Coast Guard patrol boat for their further safety. Following this humanitarian act, the 'ZIM Pacific' continued on its journey to Barcelona. The migrants were then accommodated temporarily at the Tigani port, before being moved to a secured facility in Agia Chania. In the wake of this incident, a preliminary investigation was initiated by the Central Port Authority of Chania, highlighting the maritime community's commitment to aiding those in peril at sea.
