The recent activities surrounding Hms-Qnlz highlight the vessel's significant role in both naval operations and international cooperation as it participates in NATO missions. After undergoing crucial repairs at Rosyth, where it addressed a fault in its propeller shaft that had emerged earlier in the year, Hms-Qnlz officially set sail on July 22, 2024. This marked a pivotal moment as the ship prepared to take part in NATO's largest mission since the Cold War, dubbed Steadfast Defender. The completion of repairs ensured the vessel was ready to undertake extensive trials in the North Sea.

Fast forward to November 18, 2024, Hms-Qnlz made headlines once more as it finally entered the port of Hamburg, albeit later than anticipated due to rough weather conditions in the North Sea that prompted delays in its arrival. The carrier was safely moored at the Steinwerder cruise terminal, where it would remain until November 23, participating in NATO maneuvers. Hamburg's security measures were set into place, featuring collaboration with homeland security to ensure the safety of the ship and its surrounding area.

During its time in Hamburg, Hms-Qnlz was slated to host a range of events for its crew, showcasing the city’s rich maritime heritage with planned tours and a special visit to the International Maritime Museum. Additionally, Hamburg's Mayor Peter Tschentscher was scheduled to board the ship with a delegation the day of its arrival, signifying the importance of the diplomatic ties fostered through such naval deployments.

However, the developments took a darker turn earlier in September 2024 when a tragic accident claimed the life of a Royal Navy crew member during a training exercise near Dorset. A Merlin Mk4 helicopter, part of the operations associated with Hms-Qnlz, crashed into the English Channel while performing night flying drills. Although two crew members were hospitalized with injuries, the loss of life underscored the inherent risks associated with maritime military training and operations.
