The ferry service between Anda and Lote has faced significant interruptions recently due to recurring technical issues with Aardal. On multiple occasions, the vessel's mechanical failures have not only disrupted ferry schedules but also left passengers stranded, emphasizing the challenges of maintaining aging maritime fleets.

On March 27, 2017, service was severely affected when a ramp failure occurred at 1:30 a.m., necessitating urgent repairs at the Bolsønes shipyard. Given that the reserve ferry also encountered a technical mishap, the operator, Fjord1, faced delays in bringing an alternative vessel, the 'Gulen', from Sogn, which took several hours to arrive. The resulting queues at the Lote ferry wharf highlighted the vessel's crucial role in local transportation and the immediate impact of its technical failures on community mobility.

Prior to this, on November 25, 2016, Aardal was docked in Maloy due to engine trouble, further demonstrating the vessel's mechanical vulnerabilities. Earlier in the same month, on November 2, 2016, the ferry was sidelined around 7:30 p.m. after suffering a technical setback and could not continue its voyage. Fjord1 had to quickly arrange for the 'Sognefjord' to take over traffic, showcasing the urgency and need for operational flexibility amid such disruptions.
