On March 16, 2020, a significant health scare unfolded aboard the Aline-Sitoe-Diatta as it docked at the Dakar Autonomous Port following its journey from Ziguinchor. A young Frenchman onboard was suspected of having contracted coronavirus, leading to an immediate quarantine of the entire vessel's crew and the passengers.
