Anglo-Cynosure: A New Era for a Titan in the Maritime Industry

Anglo-Cynosure has made significant waves in the maritime sector recently, marked by strategic acquisitions and operational maneuvers that underline its growing influence. UK-based company Anglo International Shipping has successfully acquired the bulk carrier Jo Jin Maru, a 98,000 dwt vessel built in 2012, for $20 million. This acquisition, sourced from their partners Kambara Kisen in Japan, echoes a previous successful purchase of a similar vessel from Kambara Kisen back in August 2018 for a slightly higher price. This repetition highlights a solid relationship between the two shipping entities and a distinctive strategy by Anglo International to bolster their fleet with reliable assets from trusted sources. Meanwhile, the Jo Jin Maru is not the only vessel making headlines. The vessel currently under the management of “K” Line is on a new charter, which includes a delivery spot at Dalian with a route via East Australia, culminating in redelivery to India. This new charter adds a lucrative dimension to the vessel's operational profile, with a reported earning of $6,400 per day. However, not all has been smooth sailing for its predecessor. The Jo Jin Maru recently found itself embroiled in legal trouble when it was arrested in Newcastle, Australia, due to unpaid bunker bills amounting to $550,000. The vessel’s management faced a claim from Dubai-based Prima Marine FZE, who provided bunkers in 2015 and are now keen on recuperating their dues. This incident reflects the financial challenges that can besiege maritime operations and the importance of fiscal responsibility in the shipping industry. With these developments, Anglo-Cynosure is poised to navigate a dynamic and competitive industry landscape, balancing expansion with the imperative of sound fiscal management.
