Resilience and Recovery: The Journey of the Anmiro Post-Incident

After a challenging episode marked by a significant fire incident, Anmiro has successfully returned to service, marking a commendable recovery effort by its crew and support teams. On April 2, 2012, while docked at the Trave Port in Hamburg-Steinwerder, the vessel caught fire due to welding work being conducted in its cargo hold. The situation quickly escalated, prompting the swift deployment of 80 firefighters to contain the blaze. Despite the flames, which ignited in a cargo hold filled with 1500 tons of cellulose, fire crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the ship.

The incident initiated an arduous firefighting operation that lasted into the evening hours, during which the crew worked diligently to remove unaffected bales from the hold. The fire eventually was extinguished after firefighters flooded the hold with water and used cranes to extract the damaged cargo. Following extensive damage assessments, it was reported that the incident resulted in approximately one million Euro worth of harm to the vessel.

Fast forward to April 17, 2012: the Anmiro departed Hamburg after completing the necessary repairs to mend the damages incurred during the fire. Its first port of call was Gunness, where it arrived safely on April 20. After the turnaround, it is set to return to Hamburg, with an estimated time of arrival on April 29.

This incident serves as a reminder of the maritime industry's resilience and the proactive measures taken to ensure the safety and reliability of operations, even in the face of challenges.
