Successful Refloating and Inspection Await for Barbro-G in Detroit River

The Barbro-G, a bulk carrier en route from Thunder Bay to Italy with a cargo of wheat, has recently completed a challenging refloating operation in the Detroit River. On November 28, just after 2 p.m. LT, the vessel was successfully refloated with the assistance of three tugs: 'Ontario', 'Wisconsin', and 'Pennsylvania', all part of the Great Lakes Towing Company. The successful operation ended a tense situation that began when the ship ran aground early that morning due to a malfunctioning thruster while moored at Belle Isle Anchorage.

Initial efforts to free the Barbro-G commenced at 8 a.m., and after hours of careful maneuvering, it was finally refloated without sustaining any damage. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or pollution resulting from the incident, ensuring uninterrupted commercial traffic in the river.
