Bugoe's Troubled Berthing Affairs and Other Maritime Incidents

On April 16, 2021, Bugoe was involved in an allision when it collided with a pier while attempting to berth in Pärnu. This unfortunate incident resulted in damage to the vessel's bulbous bow. After assessing the damage and performing necessary repairs, the ship resumed its voyage two days later, departing port at 1:15 a.m. on April 18 and making its way to Antwerp, where it arrived successfully on April 21 at 8:50 p.m.

The maritime sector has seen its fair share of incidents. For example, on May 5, 2017, the Turkish ferry 'Salayar' was involved in a collision with another vessel named 'Tiwala' while navigating the Marmara Sea. The ferry, carrying 25 vehicles, sustained damage to its portside forecastle, yet fortunately, there were no injuries reported. After the incident, 'Salayar' managed to reach its destination in Tekirdag, arriving safely in the early hours of May 6.

In another instance on January 21, 2012, the Dutch ro-ro ferry 'Plyca' created a dangerous situation at the Brunsbüttel locks when it generated significant suction and swell from its high speed. This disturbance was strong enough to cause movements of the moored 'Tiwala', which was then enroute from Muuga to Bayonne. As a result, a bow line broke, leading to considerable damage to both the gangway and shelter installations nearby. Following this event, an investigation by the Water Police Station Brunsbüttel was initiated, and the master of 'Plyca' was required to deposit a guarantee of 175 Euros.

Collectively, these incidents highlight the unpredictable nature of maritime operations and the necessity for continued vigilance and safety measures within the industry.
