Carmencita, a Norwegian-owned bulk carrier weighing 58,800-DWT and built in 2009, has recently been in the news for both its operational activities and a distressing encounter with piracy. On an early Tuesday morning, the vessel was attacked by pirates approximately 250 nautical miles northeast of Socotra, off the Yemeni coast.
