Iconic Ferry 'Sea Wind' Sold in Transition for New Adventures
In a significant move for the maritime industry, Tallink has parted ways with its venerable ferry, the 'Sea Wind', which has been a stalwart of its fleet for half a century. The specific sale figure remains undisclosed, but Tallink Group's CEO, Paavo Nõgene, expressed mixed emotions about the sale. He stated, "It's certainly bittersweet to bid farewell to our cherished 'Sea Wind' as she turns 50 this year. However, we take comfort in knowing she embarks on a new chapter with her new owners, continuing her legacy on different waters. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the crew, whose dedication has allowed this vessel to thrive all these years." The 'Sea Wind' formerly operated on the popular Muuga-Vuosaari route but will no longer service the Baltic Sea following this transition. In light of this change, Tallink has revamped its cargo vessel operations to maintain service levels on routes connecting Estonia to Finland and Sweden. Effective April 19, the 'Regal Star' will step in to fill the void left by the 'Sea Wind' on the Muuga-Vuosaari route, while the 'Sailor' is set to enhance service on the Paldiski-Kapellskär route with additional departures. The handover of the 'Sea Wind' to her new operators took place in Tallinn on April 26, marking the end of an era and the beginning of new adventures for this iconic vessel.

Starting June 12, 2023, Tallink is set to revolutionize its Muuga (Estonia) to Vuosaari (Finland) route by allowing passengers to travel with their vehicles. This service will utilize the SEA WIND, which was previously designated for freight only, marking a significant enhancement in Tallink's offerings. This move not only elevates the travel experience for holidaymakers and local commuters but also strengthens connections between these two vital ports.
