On the morning of March 22, 2018, the vessel 'AB2 Future' encountered an unfortunate grounding in the Caland Canal, situated just outside Hoek van Holland. The tugboat 'Hampshire' was the first to arrive at the scene, however, it did not participate in the salvage efforts. A swift reaction came from the tugs 'Multratug 3', 'Multratug 31', and 'Fairplay 1', which promptly worked together to free the 'AB2 Future' from its precarious position, successfully pulling it back into deeper waters around 9:10 a.m. Additionally, the mooring boat 'RVE 41' provided valuable assistance during the operation. A tragic accident occurred on May 16, 2012, when a crew member lost his life while trying to disembark from the vessel 'Dette G' at a port in the UK. Instead of using the designated accommodation ladder, the crew member opted for a shortcut through the pilot gate. Unfortunately, he fell into a perilous 50-centimeter gap that existed between the ship and the quay, leading to a severe head injury that resulted in a fractured skull. In response to this unfortunate incident, the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) of the UK has initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
