On August 22, 2016, the captain of the merchant vessel 'Aasli' reached out to the Holyhead Coastguard Co-ordinating Centre, seeking urgent assistance for a crew member who was suffering from a medical emergency. A connection was established with a hospital doctor via radio communication, who promptly recommended that the ailing crewman be evacuated to a hospital for thorough medical evaluation. With this advice in mind, Rhyl's All-weather lifeboat crew was activated and launched into action. The 'Aasli' was anchored approximately ten miles offshore, and the lifeboat arrived on the scene in nearly an hour. Upon arrival, the lifeboat crew expertly assisted the sick crew member aboard, where two members of the casualty care team provided immediate attention. Despite a language barrier, as the crewman had limited English proficiency, the lifeboat crew used hand signals and gestures to communicate effectively. To address his medical needs, the crewman was given supplemental oxygen while his condition was closely monitored throughout the journey back to shore. After making good speed back to Rhyl, the man was safely transferred to an ambulance that took him to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd Hospital for further treatment.
