The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has placed the cargo ship 'Unicorn Bravo' under quarantine as part of its proactive measures against the potential spread of COVID-19. The vessel arrived at the Bacolod coastline on February 24, 2020, after departing from Xiamen on February 20, and is currently carrying a cargo of fertilizer. On board the vessel are 15 Chinese crew members and four from Myanmar. Upon arrival, the PCG instructed the 'Unicorn Bravo' to anchor approximately one kilometer offshore from the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port. Crew members are scheduled for examination by quarantine officials on February 27 to assess their health status. Following the initial checks, the crew will be subjected to a 14-day quarantine period, with the possibility of clearance depending on the recommendations of the medical officer overseeing the quarantine. In addition, the PCG continues to intensify its monitoring and controls on all ship disembarkations to ensure the safety of public health during these challenging times.
