The Absa-Uno: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In a dramatic rescue operation, Salvamento Marítimo came to the aid of the disabled live fish carrier 'Scan Viking' on March 26, 2017. The vessel found itself adrift approximately 30 miles northeast of Ibiza, carrying four crew members during its journey from Palma to Alicante when it experienced engine failure. The Rescue Coordination Center in Palma quickly mobilized the 'Guardamar Calíope' to provide assistance. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, a towing operation commenced at 11:20 a.m. and lasted over eight hours. The convoy successfully reached Ibiza's port on March 27 at 8:22 a.m. After temporary refuge, the 'Scan Viking' set sail again on March 27 at 10:45 p.m., heading toward Gramabasa with an estimated arrival time of 3 p.m. on March 28.
