Working Conditions Aboard the Ada-74

On December 26, 2021, the Central Port Authority of Corfu received urgent reports regarding a mechanical failure on the 'Ionas'. The vessel, which was en route from Corfu to Igoumenitsa with 109 passengers, 44 vehicles, and a crew of 14, encountered engine trouble while navigating southeast off the coast of Corfu. Promptly reacting to the captain’s distress call, a patrol boat was dispatched to the location, alongside the accompanying vessel 'Ioannis', which provided an escort. Fortunately, the 'Ionas' managed to reach the Port of Corfu under its own power. Following safety protocols, the Central Port Authority has suspended the ship's sailing privileges pending necessary repairs and verification of seaworthiness by the appropriate classification society. Meanwhile, affected passengers were transferred to another vessel to continue their journey.

On January 20, 2019, the ferry 'Ionas' encountered an electro-mechanical issue while getting ready to set sail from Corfu to Igoumenitsa. Port inspectors in Corfu promptly boarded the vessel and diagnosed a fault within the electrical system. As a precaution, the ferry was detained at the port to address the problem and ensure that repairs were completed. Once the necessary fixes were made, a class certificate confirming the vessel's seaworthiness was issued. The 57 passengers onboard were safely disembarked and later transported to their destination of Igoumenitsa using an alternative vessel.

On September 26, 2018, a significant electrical issue was reported by the captain of the Ionas while preparing to depart from the new port of Corfu for its scheduled route to Igoumenitsa. The Corfu Port Authority acted promptly, detaining the ferry until the necessary repairs were completed and a class certificate was obtained from the relevant classification society. At the time of the incident, the Ionas was carrying 59 passengers, 20 vehicles, and one freight unit. Thankfully, all individuals were safely disembarked and provided alternative transportation to their respective destinations. After thorough inspections and repairs, the Ionas was back in service on October 19.
