On February 3, 2017, the bulk carrier 'Seferis' experienced a significant main engine failure while navigating off the coast of Estrechos. Urgently requiring assistance, the Spanish offshore tug 'Luz de Mar' was dispatched at 10:30 p.m. to provide support. Following a successful tow, 'Seferis' was anchored in Algeciras by 5:00 a.m. on February 4. The vessel resumed its journey on February 10, continuing towards Gibraltar, where it subsequently dropped anchor in the port's roads on February 13 at 8:30 p.m.

The merchant vessel 'Giannis M,' navigating between Alexandropolis and Constanta, encountered serious trouble on June 16, 2012, when it suffered a critical engine failure near Lapseki, off the Dardanelles, leaving it adrift. Prompt action was taken by the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Service Center, which dispatched the tugboat 'Kurtama 3' to assist in the recovery efforts. By 10:50 AM, 'Giannis M' was successfully under tow and later secured safely at a mooring off Gallipoli by noon.
