As Indonesia braces for a significant prohibition on unprocessed ores, authorities have detained no fewer than 10 Chinese freighters attempting to depart from local ports. This action blocks the exit of vessels, including the bulk carrier Aeriko, which is currently loaded with nickel ore and operated by Shanghai Erli International Ship Management Co. Reports from the 21st Century Business Herald indicate that the Aeriko was stopped at a port located on Sulawesi island. Chen Dusong, the chief of Erli, reported that a total of at least 10 Chinese ships are currently being held in the region. However, attempts to reach Chen for further comments were unsuccessful, as his Shanghai office did not respond to Bloomberg News inquiries. Similarly, multiple attempts to contact Agung Kuswandono, Indonesia's director-general of customs, went unanswered.
