On January 30, 2016, the cargo vessel 'Afalina' experienced a significant setback while navigating rough seas off the coast of Latvia, losing approximately 300 to 500 cubic meters of timber from its main deck. The ship, en route from Ventspils to Rostock, encountered severe weather conditions that led to the loss. According to experts, the floating timber is expected to reach the shores of Latvia within the next three to four days due to prevailing currents. After the tumultuous experience, the 'Afalina' successfully docked in Rostock at 6:15 a.m. on February 1 and continued its journey to Parnu on February 2.
