Wulin Bulk Carrier Diverts to Bermuda for Critical Crew Medical Evacuation
On April 8, 2022, the bulk carrier 'Wulin', traveling from Mobile to Nador, made an unexpected diversion to Bermuda to assist a crew member in need of urgent medical care. The Royal Bermuda Coastguard (RCC Bermuda) was alerted at 7:50 a.m. regarding the ship's revised course, with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) of 3:15 p.m. The ship had previously consulted a doctor ashore for guidance on the medical situation. Upon arrival, the patient's transfer was facilitated by the pilot boat 'St. George', which took him from the vessel at a designated deep draft location. Following the medevac, the crew member was promptly admitted to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment. After ensuring the safety and health of the member, the Wulin continued its journey, with a newfound ETA of April 16.
