The Agios-Panteleimon: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In a somber event that unfolded on August 1, 2022, the Port Authority of Kavala was alerted during the early morning hours about a critical emergency on the 'Agios Panteleimon.' This ferry, operating a scheduled route from Prinos Thassos to the port of Kavala, witnessed a 73-year-old female passenger become unresponsive while on board. Crew members promptly administered first aid, with assistance from a private physician who happened to be traveling on the ferry. Despite their efforts, the vessel continued its journey to Kavala, where an ambulance awaited to transport the elderly woman to the General Hospital of Kavala. Sadly, her death was confirmed upon arrival. In response to the tragedy, the Central Port Authority of Kavala has initiated a preliminary investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.

On the morning of June 11, 2019, the captain of the vessel "Agios Panteleimon" alerted the Port Authorities of Kavala and Thassos regarding a significant engine issue. While departing from the port of Prinos Thassou with 20 passengers aboard, the ship experienced a failure in its port-side main engine. As a precautionary measure, the Thassos Port Department, under the Central Port Authority of Kavala, promptly detained the vessel until repairs could be carried out. The situation required confirmation of class maintenance by the appropriate classification society. After addressing the engine issues, the ship was cleared for departure and set sail for Kavala at 4:15 p.m.

On September 13, 2018, the crew of the 'Agios Panteleimon' reported a ramp issue to the Port Authority of Thassos shortly after noon. The incident occurred as the vessel was departing from Prinos, headed for Kavala. Fortunately, all passengers and vehicles on board were safely disembarked without incident. The Thassos Port Authority subsequently took precautionary measures by detaining the ferry until necessary repairs could be completed and a class certificate was validated by the designated classification society.
