Tragic Incident on Ferry: 73-Year-Old Passenger Succumbs After Collapsing
In a somber event that unfolded on August 1, 2022, the Port Authority of Kavala was alerted during the early morning hours about a critical emergency on the 'Agios Panteleimon.' This ferry, operating a scheduled route from Prinos Thassos to the port of Kavala, witnessed a 73-year-old female passenger become unresponsive while on board. Crew members promptly administered first aid, with assistance from a private physician who happened to be traveling on the ferry. Despite their efforts, the vessel continued its journey to Kavala, where an ambulance awaited to transport the elderly woman to the General Hospital of Kavala. Sadly, her death was confirmed upon arrival. In response to the tragedy, the Central Port Authority of Kavala has initiated a preliminary investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
