Emergency Medevac Delays AIDAbella's Arrival in Fuerteventura
On April 9, 2026, the cruise ship 'AIDAbella' docked at Puerto del Rosario in Fuerteventura nearly an hour late, following a critical emergency medical disembarkation the night before. Originally scheduled to leave Santa Cruz de Tenerife at 10:00 p.m., the ship had to return to port shortly after departure. At approximately 11:15 p.m. on April 8, Captain Class Cramer informed the passengers via the intercom that the decision was made to prioritize the well-being of a patient, necessitating the return to Tenerife. An ambulance awaited the critically ill passenger at the port to ensure a swift transfer to the hospital. After successfully completing the medical emergency, 'AIDAbella' was able to set sail again, hastening toward Fuerteventura. Despite increasing its speed overnight to make up for lost time, the vessel was unable to arrive at Puerto del Rosario by the originally planned time of 9:00 a.m. Later that evening, 'AIDAbella' departed Fuerteventura, continuing its final cruise around the Canary Islands, with stops in Lanzarote before heading back to Gran Canaria. Following the next passenger changeover in Las Palmas, the ship will only accommodate guests on the Western Europe cruise to Kiel.
