Significantly, the AIDAdiva will have visited Honolulu thrice during this cruise – on December 26, 2025, for a technical stop, again for New Year’s Eve celebrations spanning December 31, 2025, to January 1, 2026, and finally for the emergency medical disembarkation on January 2, 2026.

The world cruise aboard the 'AIDAdiva' has been interrupted by a reported outbreak of norovirus, according to a recent announcement from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) dated December 4, 2025. The situation came to light on November 30 when US health authorities were informed, despite the ship already having departed from East Coast ports in North America. This communication was crucial as the cruise itinerary includes additional stops at US ports. The CDC noted that a total of 95 out of 2,007 passengers (4.8%) and six of the 640 crew members (0.9%) showed signs of illness, manifesting as symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting, all linked to norovirus. It’s important to highlight that the reported cases occurred throughout the course of the voyage, not all at once, indicating staggered outbreaks among those on board. To combat this outbreak and prevent any further transmission, AIDA Cruises has ramped up hygiene and health safety protocols.
