According to the U.S. Coast Guard, this 32,000-ton bulk carrier, which is registered under the Panamanian flag, encountered trouble while navigating southbound around 4 a.m. Fortunately, after approximately three hours, the vessel was successfully freed. The Coast Guard is currently investigating the circumstances leading to the grounding incident, as the Nord Explorer was en route to Norfolk, Virginia.
