Bangladesh Bulk Carrier Akij Wave Cleared for Sevastopol Port After Malaria-Related Incident

In a recent maritime incident, the second officer of the Bangladesh bulk carrier Akij Wave tragically succumbed to malaria on November 6, 2012, while the vessel was docked at Dneprobugskiy port in Ukraine. Following this unfortunate event, the Akij Wave was instructed to proceed to the quarantine route of Sevastopol port in Crimea, where it was officially placed under quarantine. After thorough assessments, both the vessel and its crew were deemed safe and on November 27 were granted clearance to enter Sevastopol port.
