Mysterious Circumstances Surround Death of Russian Engineer in Paradip Port

Jan 05, 2023 11:21

An autopsy conducted on Russian engineer Sergy Ilyakov, discovered deceased aboard the 'Al Danah' at Paradip port, Jagatsinghpur district, has revealed concerning injuries. The post-mortem report indicates a noticeable injury on his left forehead, along with additional marks on his left eyebrow and eye. Investigators are currently working to determine whether these injuries stemmed from a fall allegedly caused by a heart attack or if there is a deeper, unexplained incident at hand. The viscera report, which has been sent to Bhubaneswar for analysis, is anticipated to provide further insights into the tragic case. Meanwhile, the Paradip Port Authority is actively conducting an investigation. In support of the inquiry, Odisha DGP Sunil Bansal has mentioned that the Crime Branch will intervene should the need arise. This incident marks the third untimely death of a Russian national in Odisha, raising eyebrows and concerns. Previously, two Russian tourists, including a prominent lawmaker critical of President Putin, were found dead under dubious circumstances in Rayagada. Additionally, another Russian individual had gone missing from Bhubaneswar railway station, but was eventually located by the Government Railway Police (GRP). As the investigation unfolds, the situation continues to capture public interest and raise many questions.

Tragic Death of Russian Engineer Found Aboard Ship at Paradip Port

Jan 04, 2023 10:11

On January 20, 2023, tragedy struck at the anchorage of Paradip port when 51-year-old Sergy Milyakov, the chief engineer of the vessel 'Al Danah', was discovered deceased onboard. This incident occurs just weeks after the controversial deaths of fellow Russians, Vladimir Bydanov and Pavel Antov, a vocal critic of the Kremlin, who tragically passed away at a hotel in Rayagada district, Odisha. The 'Al Danah', which was on its way to Mumbai after departing from Chittagong, Bangladesh, had arrived in Paradip to load iron ore cargo. Initial reports suggest Milyakov's death may have resulted from a heart attack. The investigation into Antov's death has drawn public ire due to perceived lapses in the handling of the case, particularly regarding the lack of videography or photography during the autopsy process, as highlighted by the Odisha crime branch. Given the circumstances surrounding these concerning events, the Odisha police may soon expand their inquiry to include an investigation into the death of Sergy Milyakov.

Investigation Launched After Collision at Leixões Port Involving 'Erasmos' and 'Blue Emerald'

Jan 26, 2017 11:12

On January 16, 2017, a significant maritime incident occurred at the port of Leixões when the cargo vessel 'Erasmos' collided with the oil tanker 'Blue Emerald'. This unfortunate event necessitated the immediate closure of an oil terminal and the prompt activation of an emergency response plan. In light of the incident's severity, the Maritime Police have initiated an investigation to determine the underlying causes of this costly collision, which has resulted in millions of Euros in damages and extensive harm to the terminal dock. The 'Erasmos', which was transporting grain from Santander, had already informed the port authorities of its scheduled arrival. However, a steering malfunction led it to veer off course, crashing into the moored 'Blue Emerald'. The collision inflicted substantial damage to the aft deck of the tanker and compromised part of the terminal's structure, prompting the emergency protocols to be set in motion. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and the robust automatic ship release system installed by Galp on its cargo arms prevented any spillage. Experts are currently assessing the full extent of the damage to the terminal (Posto B), with operations expected to resume by the start of the following week. As of January 26, both vessels have been securely anchored in the port's designated anchorage area.
