Qatargas Marks Historic LNG Delivery to Pakistan State Oil Company
In a significant development for energy trade, Qatargas has successfully delivered its inaugural Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargo to the Pakistan State Oil Company (PSO) under a long-term supply contract. The delivery took place at Port Qasim, Pakistan, utilizing the Qatargas-chartered LNG vessel, Al Gattara, which is managed by Nakilat. The vessel set sail from Ras Laffan, Qatar, on February 26, 2016, marking a historic moment as the first Q-Flex LNG delivery to Pakistan. This milestone not only strengthens Qatargas's partnership with PSO but also enhances the operational versatility of its Q-Flex fleet, which is now capable of servicing 60 LNG terminals worldwide. In comparison, the larger Q-Max vessels currently connect with 32 LNG terminals across the globe. Reflecting on past successes, Qatargas had previously delivered its first commissioning cargo to PSO in April 2015 aboard the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) vessel Excelerate Exquisite, which is still stationed at the Engro LNG terminal in Port Qasim—the first LNG import terminal in Pakistan. This recent delivery underscores Qatargas's commitment to meeting the energy needs of Pakistan while expanding its global reach in LNG supply.
