Nakilat Assumes Management of First LNG Carrier, QFlex Al Hamla
In a significant development for the maritime industry, Nakilat, Qatar's premier marine transport company and a world leader in LNG shipping, has officially taken over full ship management and operational responsibilities for its inaugural LNG vessel, the QFlex Al Hamla. This transition marks the first phase in a broader strategy, which will see Nakilat take over management of three additional vessels over the next two months. The QFlex Al Hamla boasts an impressive cargo capacity of 216,000m3 and is a joint venture, with Nakilat owning 50.1% while OSG retains 49.9%. The vessel, constructed by Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, was delivered in February 2008. Currently, Al Hamla is actively chartered by Qatargas II and has successfully completed 45 cargo deliveries across the globe.
