On the evening of February 11, 2024, a critical incident unfolded 13 nautical miles southeast of Skyros when the livestock carrier 'Al Kadrai' experienced significant rudder failure, prompting urgent action from the Port Authorities of Chios, Karystos, Kymi, Skyros, Psara, and Andros. With 21 crew members onboard, the situation was dire. The Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) swiftly deployed two nearby vessels alongside the tugboat 'Christos XXXIV' to assist. After initial towing efforts by 'Christos XXXIV', the support of another tug, 'Christos XLI', was enlisted to ensure a safe passage. The two tugboats successfully guided the 'Al Kadrai' to Ampelakia in Salamina, where it arrived on February 14 at 3:30 p.m. UTC.
