In the early hours of March 14, 2016, at approximately 4:38 a.m., the dredger 'Alexander von Humboldt' faced a critical engine failure while navigating the Elbe River. The vessel was en route downstream, heading from the Köhlbrand toward the fishing port when it allided with a quay, resulting in significant damage. The impact occurred along a 10-meter stretch of the quay, which housed offices for the Kotug company, and subsequently impacted the roof of the building.
