Hardhaus Triumphantly Returns to Bekkjarvik After Extensive Repairs

Dec 21, 2018 19:27

The fishing vessel 'Hardhaus' has made its triumphant return to Bekkjarvik in Austevoll on December 20, following an arduous period of repairs that ensued after a maritime accident. Months ago, while undergoing painting and class maintenance at the North Sea Cathedral dock in Hirtshals, disaster struck when the dock capsized, resulting in an estimated 40 million Norwegian crowns worth of damage to the purse seiner. The flooding of the engine room was a direct consequence of the bottom valves being removed at the time of the mishap. From mid-September, extensive repair work was carried out at Ørskov Yard in Frederikshavn, focusing on the main engine, auxiliary motors, axle generator, and gearbox. Technicians from Scanel, Norisol, and Wärtsilä oversaw the meticulous restoration of the vessel, replacing destroyed pumps and electronics as well as upgrading all sonars. In addition to the significant work on the engine room, repairs also included fixes to the bottom of the vessel, complete insulation replacement, and refurbishing the interior. This comprehensive effort marks a successful resolution to a challenging incident, allowing 'Hardhaus' to sail again. Hardhaus Trawler Nears Completion of Repairs After Docking Incident

Dec 01, 2018 20:48

During the final week of November, Ørskov Yard achieved a significant milestone in the repair of the trawler 'Hardhaus' by successfully restarting its main engine. The vessel had encountered severe damage back in mid-August when a floating dock in Hirtshals capsized, trapping the 'Hardhaus' inside. This unfortunate incident led to extensive flooding in the trawler's engine room, resulting in substantial damage that made it initially impossible to reboot the main engine. After the accident, the 'Hardhaus' was towed to Ørskov Yard in Frederikshavn one month later, where restorative work commenced promptly. With the main engine now operational, only minor final touches remain before the trawler can return to its owners. On December 16 at 9 p.m., the 'Hardhaus' set sail towards Haugesund, with an estimated time of arrival of December 17 at 7 p.m. For more updates, you can view a related video on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mshardhaus/videos/312029639403866/
