On March 1, 2014, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a maritime incident occurred in the Medem Roads involving the dredger 'Barent Zanen' and the cargo vessel 'Bimi'. The collision took place while the 'Bimi', having just exited the Kiel Canal locks in Brunsbüttel and en route from Eemshaven, approached the dredger amidst dense fog conditions prevalent in the Elbe River. Following the accident, the 'Bimi' was successfully towed to the Sea Bath Bridge in Cuxhaven by tugs 'Taucher O. Wulf 3' and 'Taucher O. Wulf 5', with additional assistance provided by the pilot boat 'Nübbel' and the lifeboat 'Hermann Helms'. The dredger 'Barent Zanen' also returned to Cuxhaven after the incident. Subsequently, the 'Bimi' was directed to the Bredo Yard for necessary repairs, which began on March 5.
