Inaugural Voyage of LNG Carrier ‘Amur River’ Begins Under Sakhalin-2 Project
On July 31, the LNG carrier ‘Amur River’ set sail from Prigorodnoye port on its maiden voyage, transporting a significant cargo of liquefied natural gas totaling 149,700 cubic meters, according to Sakhalin Energy. The vessel's charter agreement was established with Gazprom Marketing and Trading in April 2014. The ‘Amur River’ is designed with cutting-edge cargo membrane tanks, which boast a total capacity of 149,700 cubic meters. Specifically engineered to handle extreme low temperatures, this ice-class 1A FS tanker is fully equipped to operate in icy conditions, ensuring reliable year-round LNG transportation from the Sakhalin-2 project’s LNG jetty located in Prigorodnoye. This LNG carrier is set to deliver gas produced at Russia's pioneering LNG plant to various markets across the Asia-Pacific region. Currently, the fleet of LNG carriers operated by Sakhalin Energy consists of five vessels, in addition to tankers managed by customers for LNG transport from the Sakhalin-2 facility. The Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. serves as the operator of Sakhalin-2, which is recognized as one of the world’s largest integrated oil and gas initiatives, featuring substantial infrastructure dedicated to hydrocarbon production, transportation, and processing.
