Working Conditions Aboard the Angele-N

In a stunning turn of events, British adventurers James Ketchell, 34, and Anthony Ward Thomas, 58, found themselves in need of urgent assistance during their ambitious attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a pedalo. Having embarked from the Canary Islands on the 'Kitty Rouge' just nine days earlier, the duo aimed to pedal, row, and kite their way to Antigua within approximately 45 days, all in support of a charitable cause with a goal to raise £100,000. However, their journey took a critical turn when Anthony experienced a suspected heart scare while they were approximately 600 miles into their ocean quest, near the coast of El Hierro island, Spain. On February 11, 2016, the 'Angele N' came to their rescue, reaching them about 447 miles southwest of El Hierro. After being safely onboard for around 20 hours, both adventurers were airlifted by helicopter to Tenerife for immediate medical care, arriving at approximately 9:35 p.m. While Anthony is now on the path to recovery, their daring journey highlights the unpredictability of ocean adventures.
