In a dramatic maritime rescue operation, the Coast Guard coordinated the response of the bulk carriers "Alexandros III" and "Dover Highway" to a 109-foot catamaran named "Mouse Trap". The alert was triggered by an emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) distress signal on March 27, 2013, at 1:15 PM, indicating that the vessel was in difficulty about 500 miles southeast of Bermuda. The catamaran, carrying a total of nine individuals, had lost its mast, leading to one crew member's tragic death.
