On September 1, 2017, the Marine Search and Rescue Coordination Centre in Hai Phong, Vietnam, executed a crucial medevac operation for a Croatian crew member from the cargo ship 'Ante Topic.' Magdalenic Ivica, 30, sustained severe injuries while performing his duties aboard the vessel, which was located 84 nautical miles East-Southeast of Hai Phong. Upon receiving a distress call from the ship, the rescue coordination centre promptly dispatched a rescue vessel to the site. At the same time, the 'Ante Topic' was instructed to proceed to Hai Phong at full speed. By 3 p.m., the injured crew member was successfully brought to shore and immediately transported to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment. Thankfully, Ivica has emerged from the critical phase of his injuries and is showing signs of recovery. The Marine Search and Rescue Coordination Centre is collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Croatia in Vietnam to ensure all necessary arrangements are made for Ivica's return to Croatia once he is fully recovered.
