Hurricane Energy PLC (LON:HUR) has confirmed a COVID-19 case on its Aoka Mizu floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) unit, stationed at the Lancaster oil field off the West Shetland coast in Scotland. A crew member tested positive for the virus after being airlifted for medical reasons on the night of March 25, 2020. The evacuation was conducted via a flight from Sumburgh Airport to the mainland. The crew member was subsequently transported to shore by an HM Coastguard helicopter for medical care. Thankfully, production operations have remained unaffected by this incident. Hurricane Energy is collaborating closely with Bluewater Lancaster Production (UK) Ltd., the operational team managing the Aoka Mizu FPSO, to address the situation. Bluewater is adhering to protocols set forth by NHS Scotland, Health Protection Scotland, and Oil and Gas UK to determine the appropriate course of action moving forward. The FPSO, which can accommodate up to 84 crew members, is currently on alert to ensure the safety and health of all personnel.
