Tragic Incident Aboard Ap Dubrava Claims Lives of Two Crew Members
On July 17, 2019, the bulk carrier 'Ap Dubrava', while navigating from San Martin to Las Palma, experienced a devastating accident that led to the untimely deaths of two crew members. The incident occurred during welding operations on the ship, resulting in injuries to four crew members, comprising three Croatians and one Ukrainian. After the accident, the vessel promptly contacted Brazilian authorities and altered its course to the nearest port for assistance. In the early hours of July 18, the Brazilian Navy responded and conducted a medevac operation, successfully rescuing two of the injured seamen. The 'Ap Dubrava' proceeded to the port of Vitoria to officially disembark the bodies of the deceased crew members and to ensure an investigation and all necessary procedures were initiated.
