Aqua Blue Experiences Mechanical Setback Near Keas
On the evening of April 26, 2023, the Port Authorities of Lavrio, Rafina, and Karystos were alerted to a mechanical issue affecting the ferry 'Aqua Blue,' which was nine nautical miles north of Keas. The vessel encountered a malfunction in its bridge controls while on a scheduled trip from the Port of Lavrio to Agios Efstratiou, Limnos, and Kavala. With 87 passengers and 50 crew members on board, the ferry was able to return to Lavrio under its own power. Once docked, all passengers disembarked safely. On the morning of October 11, 2022, the Master of the ferry 'Aqua Blue' reported a critical failure in the main engine while navigating its scheduled route from Lavrio to Agios Efstratiou, Myrina, and Kavala. The incident took place approximately seven nautical miles northwest of Lemnos, with 152 passengers and 49 crew members on board. Thankfully, propulsion was successfully restored, allowing the ferry to dock at Kavala at 12:20 p.m. However, the Port Authority issued a sailing ban until the vessel could present a maintenance certificate from the relevant classification society. The 'Aqua Blue' was finally cleared to depart again at 3:35 p.m., resuming its journey to Lavrio, where it arrived safely on October 12 at 6:50 a.m.

Following the incident, he was promptly transported to the General Hospital of Kavala, where medical professionals diagnosed him with a fracture. In response to the incident, the Port Authority initiated a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
