On January 15, 2018, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the cargo ship 'Peikko' encountered an incident at the pier of Brake, located in the Wesermarsch municipality. The 55-year-old captain attempted to shift berths after completing unloading operations but miscalculated the tide currents and wind conditions. This led to the vessel striking two moored ships: the 'Aracari Arrow' and the tug 'Mistral' (IMO: 6923888). The allision resulted in substantial damage to the 'Peikko', necessitating its detention in port. The hull of the 'Peikko' suffered a breach that required welding repairs.
