Arklow-Forest Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

The Arklow Shipping Line (ASL) has welcomed its latest addition, the Arklow Forest, which set sail from Greenore to Dublin Port last night to dock at the Alexandra Basin Jetty. This new 'F' class vessel was delivered in September 2023 by the renowned Spanish shipbuilder Astilleros de Murueta SA, located in Erandio, near Bilbao. With this delivery, ASL's fleet now boasts a total of 45 vessels. The christening ceremony for the Arklow Forest took place on October 7, 2023, during a promotional trade visit in the Basque Country. Attendees included Irish Ambassador to Spain Justin Harman, Honorary Consul Rocco Caira, and Mr. James Tyrell, CEO of Arklow Shipping, alongside the management team from the shipyard. Boasting a gross tonnage of 2,998, the Arklow Forest features a single-box hold outfitted with two portable bulkheads that can be configured in 10 different positions for optimal cargo separation. This impressive vessel has a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 4,800 and is certified for carrying dangerous goods classified under IMO Classes 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, and 5.2 (packaged), in addition to general bulk cargoes. The ship is powered by a MAN 6L27/38 2040kW gearbox equipped with a controllable pitch propeller (CPP), achieving speeds of approximately 12 knots. Measuring 89 meters in length, the Arklow Forest was originally part of the 4,500 dwt 'R' class design but underwent modifications to increase its capacity by an additional 300 tonnes, further enhancing its operational capabilities. The vessel follows the recently commissioned Arklow Field in expanding ASL's growing fleet.
