On February 13, 2023, the Kraken Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel made its way to the operational field, with favorable weather anticipated for its arrival. The vessel, named Armada Kraken, was officially unveiled during a naming ceremony at Keppel Shipyard yesterday. This advanced FPSO unit is specifically engineered to thrive in the challenging conditions of the North Sea, adhering to rigorous regulatory standards. With a remarkable design life of 25 years without the need for dry-docking, Armada Kraken will serve to extract heavy oil (API degree 14) from the Kraken field situated in the UK sector of the North Sea. Keppel Shipyard's comprehensive scope of work on the Armada Kraken project encompasses refurbishment and life extension tasks, enhancements to the living quarters for up to 90 personnel, installation of a sophisticated internal turret mooring system, and the seamless integration of topside processing modules.
