Entangled Anchors Cause Delay for Ferry in Syros
On the morning of July 10, 2024, a situation arose in Syros as the captain of the ferry 'Artemis' reported an issue with the vessel's anchors. While preparing for its planned voyage to Serifos, Sifnos, Kimolos, and Milos with 57 passengers onboard, the anchors were discovered to be entangled, making removal impossible. Thankfully, the ferry managed to safely berth at Syros port using its own propulsion. A collaboration involving a barge and a crane-equipped vehicle was essential to resolve the entanglement issue. After successfully freeing the anchors, the ship was inspected by its classifiying authority where it presented the necessary certification. Shortly thereafter, the 'Artemis' resumed its journey, ensuring the passengers continued on their way as per the scheduled route.
Damage Reported on Ferry 'Artemnis' During Departure from Parikia

Despite the ramp issue, the ferry successfully navigated to Syros, where it safely discharged a total of 80 passengers, along with 16 vehicles, three trucks, and six two-wheeled vehicles. In response to the situation, the Port Authority of Syros has imposed a ban on the ferry's operations until the necessary repairs are completed and a maintenance certificate from the overseeing classification society is provided.
