Ary-Rongel Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On February 19, 2022, the fishing vessel 'Ary Rongel-M 44' encountered severe challenges while navigating the treacherous waters of Drake Passage. The vessel experienced significant damage, resulting in a flood within its engine room and necessitating an urgent distress call. In response, the Argentine Navy mobilized the ARA 'A-22 Estrecho de San Carlos', while Chile contributed valuable support with the research vessel 'AGS-61 Cabo de Hornos' and the ocean patrol ship 'OPV-83 Marinero Fuentealva', both of which were operating in proximity to the Diego Ramírez Islands, located approximately 100 kilometers to the southwest of Cape Horn. Additionally, the civilian vessels 'Ocean Victory' and 'Le Loreal' responded to the emergency, assisting in the rescue efforts. Although the polar ship 'H41 Almirante Maximiano' encountered difficulties en route and was unable to join the operation, the combined efforts of the Argentine and Chilean naval units proved effective. The dedicated crew of the 'Ary Rongel' skillfully managed to resolve the emergency situation with the collaborative efforts of the nearby ships. Eventually, the 'Ary Rongel' proceeded to Punta Arenas, safely escorted by Chilean and Argentine naval forces, arriving at the port on February 22.
